Jaguar will have its own dedicated in-house designed and engineered EV platform, code-named Panthera. Reports out of the U.K. say that Panthera is being engineered with assistance from Magna. It will spawn at least two SUVs with different wheelbases. Dual motors, 800 volts, autonomous driving, a high degree of connectivity and many recycled, environmentally friendly materials are reported to be key ingredients that will justify Jaguar’s move far upmarket to compete with Bentley, Aston Martin, Porsche and others.
Large electric SUV: Arriving in 2025 and built on a stretched Panthera platform, it’s aimed at the U.S. and China. The big Jag SUV is expected to be offered in two models, a standard, loaded version and a super-high-performance SVR model that could have a sticker price north of $200,000.
Midsize electric SUV: Autocar says the smallest of the new Jags will be about the same size as the Porsche Taycan, come in three- and five-door body styles, and have a six-figure starting price tag.
I-Pace: The only current Jaguar to live beyond 2025. No major changes are expected.
