Your own TikTok page has gained a following. What do you attribute that success to?
It’s interesting—I don’t really know. I’m not a huge social person, which is funny because now it’s my job and my life. But I enjoy sharing what I’m working on. People love to see behind the scenes. I never view it about myself; A lot of times, I don’t even want to be in the videos per se.
You’re so great at doing red carpet interviews. Is there an art form to that?
When I do carpets, I’m not looking to make a headline. I’m just looking to have fun. I’m there to make sure that the show or the movie gets seen, because I’m working with the studio. Even regardless of my own thoughts on the project, I want people to watch as much as possible, and decide what they think is good or not. It’s good to watch things that you don’t like—you form your own tastes and opinions! I want the carpet to be a safe space for the talent at the end of the day, just because of how many eyes there are and how much pressure there is. There’s no need to be toxic on the carpet—just keep it amicable! Everybody’s just trying to do their job.
You have great style on the carpet, too. What’s your approach to red carpet dressing?
It’s a combination of three things. Function is important, because I walk around a lot and I don’t want to be uncomfortable. There’s a vibe thing—if it’s for a comedy, you can have some fun, or if it’s a serious film, I will not be showing skin. And then there’s also cost: I don’t like to spend money. Sometimes I’ll use a stylist for something like the Oscars, but for the most part, I’m piecing together things for the carpet that I find on eBay. I love suits—I’m a big fan of a trouser and a little cropped jacket. I love mix and matching, and piecing things together.
