Rep. Nancy Mace makes prayer breakfast crowd uncomfortable with sex talk: ‘No, baby, we don’t got time for that’

South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace made a roomful of Christians uncomfortable at GOP presidential candidate Tim Scott‘s prayer breakfast when she suggested she was almost late because her fiancé wanted to get intimate.

Sen. Scott hosted the event Wednesday in South Carolina, where he was joined by a number of guest speakers, including fellow Tar Heel State politicians Rep. Russell Fry, Sen. Lindsey Graham, and Mace.

The gathering grew palpably awkward after Mace stepped to the podium.

“When I woke up this morning at seven, I was getting picked up at 7:45. Patrick, my fiancé, tried to pull me by my waist over this morning in bed and I was like, ‘No, baby, we don’t got time for that this morning. I got to get to the prayer breakfast and I got to be on time.’ A little TMI,” Mace, 45, told fellow Christians at the event.

“I know he can wait … I’ll see him later tonight,” she added as some in the crowd nervously laughed.

Sex outside of marriage is typically considered a sin among conservative Christians.

Tim Scott, considered by many to be a longshot, has seen a recent surge in the polls, reaching 11% support in Iowa, where the GOP presidential primary will kick off in January. He still trails behind former President Donald Trump, at 46% and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, at 16%, in Iowa, according to a poll released this week.

Scott has also seen growing support in New Hampshire, the second state to vote in the Republican primary, according to Fox News.
