The last remaining member of Cleveland’s “Big 3” era could soon be heading south.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, “The Miami Heat have emerged as leaders to sign five-time All-Star Kevin Love after he completes buyout with Cleveland … Interested teams believe Miami’s ability to offer a defined role and playoff positioning are leading factors.”
A couple days ago it was reported that Love and the Cavs were headed for a likely split considering that he’s in the final year of a contract that owes him $31.2 million and he’s been out of the rotation for the past 12 games.
In that stretch the team has posted a 9-3 record and the top-ranked defense in the NBA.
It’s not often you see a playoff team looking to part ways with a valuable vet in the middle of the season, but it looks like Love’s value resides outside the friendly confines of Cleveland, Ohio.
