Zion Williamson has been sidelined since Jan. 2 due to a hamstring injury. Unfortunately for the Pelicans, it doesn’t sound like he’ll be available for the play-in tournament.
Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium is reporting that Williamson is “unlikely” to return to action next week.
“The team has been cautious with Williamson’s comeback as he continues rehab process,” Charania said.

On Thursday, Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin commented on Williamson’s injury timeline.
“After further evaluation, it has been determined that Zion Williamson will continue his rehabilitation and conditioning regimen,” Griffin said. “We will continue to monitor his progression and updates will be provided as warranted.”
When healthy, Williamson is an absolute star on the hardwood. He was averaging 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game prior to going down with an injury.
The Pelicans were in third place in the Western Conference when Williamson first went down. As expected, replacing his production on a nightly basis has been a tall task.
