Resident Evil Spencer Mansion Looks Breathtaking In New Unreal Engine 5 Recreation

Despite having already been remade for current gaming consoles and PC, the original Resident Evil is in dire need of a proper, modern remake, and a new video that was shared online this week only makes us want such a remake even more.

In a new 4K trailer shared on YouTube, RE Biohazard showcased the current progress of an Unreal Engine 5-powered remake of the first entry in the series. Focusing on Spencer Mansion, the very first place that players get to explore at the start of the game, the video does an amazing job of showcasing the great renovation work that has been done on some of the mansion’s most iconic locations. More videos will be shared in the near future to show other locations, such as the Backyard and the Laboratory.

Having recently played through the Resident Evil HD Remake, which is still in a rather bad state on PC years after release, I couldn’t help but remain impressed by team ARKLAY’s amazing recreation of Spencer Mansion. Hopefully, with the Resident Evil 4 remake out of the way, Capcom will consider remaking the first entry in their popular series in the RE Engine to give fans all over the world the chance to experience the game like it was never possible before.

It isn’t just visuals that would need to be completely overhauled in a modern Resident Evil remake, as gameplay hasn’t aged too well, despite the fixed camera view still having an undeniable charm. With the gameplay improvements seen in the modern remakes released so far, a full-on remake of the original Resident Evil would truly be glorious.

The latest entry in the series released earlier this year on PC and consoles is the Resident Evil 4 remake. While the game could have innovated the original more, it is an excellent action horror game and one of the best games ever put out by Capcom. You can learn more about the remake by reading Nathan’s review.
