Resorts World, The Newest Resort On The Vegas Strip – What’s It Like To Stay?

0

While the Las Vegas strip is constantly changing, brand new hotels and casinos are rare. The last one to open before Resorts World was The Cosmopolitan in 2010, 11 years ago.

Most hotels get a make-over and the occasional rebranding, but there are rarely new resorts and even less often a massive development like Resorts World. The new property was built on the Stardust Resort and Casino site and finally opened in June 2021, after the original casino closed in 2007. It’s situated at the southern end of the strip and less walkable than center strip properties. You can walk to the legendary Peppermill lounge and diner in just a few minutes as well as Encore which is part of Wynn.

Resorts World consists of three hotels, all in the Hilton group of brands. Crockfords by LXR is the most upmarket hotel and only has a small number of rooms. The rest of the 3000+ rooms are divided between the Conrad and Hilton hotels. Crockfords is the hotel for those that don’t “do” Vegas. This is for you if you want to avoid the casino, the queues, and the crowds in a luxurious retreat. As you approach its ornate gates, you can immediately tell that this is an exclusive property.

There are no tensa barriers for the queue at reception; in fact, it’s rare to see as many guests as staff. The check-in experience starts with a tea ceremony at reception and is a far cry from the usual Vegas hotel experience. You also receive a lovely commemorative keyring that you can open your hotel room with and take home as a souvenir. The hotel is designed to provide quick access to the casino when you need it but remain removed from the masses in serene surroundings when you want to.

Rooms are high-tech with electronic curtains and a rare Vegas commodity – a Nespresso coffee machine. Unfortunately, most Vegas hotel rooms don’t have any sort of coffee machine to entice you from your room to spend your money in the hotel. Crockfords also has its own swimming pool and access to the other Resorts World pools.

The pools are one of Resorts World’s main attractions, with the Vegas strip’s only infinity pool plus the largest pool complex on the Strip with seven pools in total. The infinity pool requires a daybed or cabana reservation to sit by it. There’s also the family pool, the Bimini game pool with submerged loungers and hot tub, the main pool, and a cabana pool.

Toiletries are the same in all three hotels and a move away from Conrad and Hilton’s traditional brands. Byredo is a luxury Swedish perfume company with toiletries starting at around $53 (£40). The Mojave Ghost fragrance is used in all the hotels to reflect the nearby Mojave Desert. There is a rare “ghost” flower in the Mojave desert that can develop with almost no water that the fragrance is named after. It is a slightly musky scent with strong woody notes based on Chantilly musk, amber, Cedarwood, Violet, and Sandalwood.

The one flaw of Crockfords is also the same for the other two hotels, breakfast. There are two outlets at Resorts World for breakfast if you don’t count Starbucks. Sun’s out, Bun’s out is similar to the popular Egg Slut with egg buns of various descriptions. However, upmarket it is not. The other option of The Kitchen has a small buffet plus a la carte options but struggles to cope with the numbers of people leading to lengthy queues. While Resorts World has numerous fantastic food options, it lacks an upscale breakfast cafe such as Bouchon, Veranda, or Tableau.

However, Resorts World does do well in the range and breadth of its other food and beverage outlets. The prime attraction is World Foods which could loosely be described as a luxury food court but is so much more. Here high-quality stalls serve a wide variety of dishes, from hand-pulled dan-dan noodles to Italian sandwiches. You can also have this delivered to your room via the Grubhub app, although it does attract a hefty $8.50 delivery fee. See if you can find the hidden entrance to the Speakeasy bar amongst the stall and the so-called “disco” bathroom while visiting Famous Foods!

Other standouts include the branch of Wally’s Wine, with a strong focus on truffles and fine wines. The newly renamed Allē Lounge on 66 on the rooftop has stunning 360-degree views, chilled live music and is designed to feel super luxurious.

The Conrad is more of a Vegas-style hotel than Conrad regulars may be used to. It’s an enormous hotel so inevitably there are queues for reception although there is a priority line for those with status. Rooms are large and feature gorgeous part marble bathrooms with raindrop showers and a super comfortable bed. Unfortunately, there are no electronic curtains or coffee machines until you get the one-bedroom suites. However, these are well worth the extra money and feel more like a penthouse suite than a standard one. As well as a large living area, there is a walk-in closet with a well-lit dressing table and a large oval bathtub to soak your Vegas-weary feet!

The Hilton has slightly smaller basic rooms than the Conrad, but they are still a good size and well above the usual Hilton standards. Rooms are decorated in gold and blue accents with a bathroom that would feel more usual in a fancy five-star hotel with its large walk-in shower and marble look countertops. The hotel also features some beautiful suites with stunning strip views.

Overall, the hotel has taken out many of the pain points of Vegas traditional hotels with easy access from the lifts to the pools, spa, reception areas, and conference rooms. It’s quick to get out and about from your room as long as you only want a taxi. If you’re going to use rideshare, it’s a long walk through the casino to an unused parking lot if you stay at the Conrad or Hilton. Crockfords guests can currently ask their Uber driver to collect them at the private entrance.

At the moment, Resorts World is offering some fantastic deals with rooms at the Conrad from just $76 plus taxes and resort fees. However, if you want to get the best value for money, you may want to try booking through a Hilton Impresario agent. Most luxury travel agents offer this service, and as well as getting complimentary breakfast, $100 hotel credit and an upgrade based on availability, you also get double Hilton points. Prices are based on the best flexible rate, so they can be slightly more than the cheapest rate online but often work out better value overall and are cancelable. Hilton Impresario rates are available worldwide for Conrad, LXR, and Waldorf Astoria properties.
