REVEALED: Luxury mansion holding title of WA’s biggest home

Most people like to downsize when they get older, but not Maggie and Mario Franco.

This week, the pair listed their five-bedroom, six-bathroom house on Hobbs Avenue in Dalkeith so that they can move into a bigger abode.

But what more could they possibly want, beyond what they already have in their luxurious three-storey family home?

Real estate agent Willie Porteous said the Hobbs Avenue property includes formal living and dining rooms, a family room, games room, a study, two kitchens and a bar.

And just to make sure you never have to leave the home, if you so please, the 1295sqm block also has a sprawling gym, spa and sauna, as well as a temperature-controlled cellar, a garden terrace with a pizza oven, an outdoor bathroom and a full-sized tennis court and pool.

So if this is the small pad, what are they moving into?

The pair are in the final stages of building a seven-level home on Jutland Parade in Dalkeith which has 3500sqm of interior space, including a boat storage area and parking for 16 cars.

It eclipses the size of Alan Bond’s former home on the corner of Victoria Avenue and Watkins Road in Dalkeith, which is believed to have recently held the title of WA’s biggest house, at 3012sqm.

To put it in perspective, the Francos will soon enjoy the same floor space as a full-range supermarket — or nearly 15 average-sized homes.

The newly built house includes three levels of living space, with five or six bedroom suites, a parking level and three levels of storage.

The slightly smaller homes on either side are owned by their sons Robert and Michael, who worked with their father at the Fero Group before the family sold it to DSI Underground a few years ago. The Francos were unavailable for comment, but Mr Porteous said the new pad was a good long-term investment.

“You don’t build a two-bedroom home on Jutland Parade,” he said.
