Mmodi has had quite a few clubs interested in him due to his starring role for Golden Arrows, but it is understood that Kaizer Chiefs have won that race.

It is no secret that Chiefs have already confirmed the signing of SuperSport United centre back Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, while also being thought to have signed Mduduzi Mdantsane and Given Msimango. In the last two weeks or so, they have also been thought to have added the likes of Venezuelan international midfielder Edson Castillo, who is believed to be ready to join the club and boost their midfield ranks at the end of this month, when his contract with his current team expires.

Now on Wednesday it was also reported that Chiefs had beaten their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates to the signatures ofArrows winger Mmodi and Marumo Gallants striker Ranga Chivaviro. Furthermore, both players made some very big decisions to ensure that they ended up at Naturena rather than Mayfair with Mmodi firing his agent who was pushing him to Pirates, while Chivaviro stood up for himself against Gallants chairman Abram Sello, who had originally sold him to the Buccaneers.

Earlier in the week, this publication reported that Mmodi went to the extent of firing his agent who was offering him to rivals Pirates, in order to seal his dream of playing for Chiefs. Now according to FARPost, the player had a bigger salary offer elsewhere.

“Meanwhile, Usuthu pulled out all the stops to win the race for Mmodi’s signature. According to a source close to the club, they offered a salary close to R200 000, which was a better offer than the Chiefs’ one. For Mmodi, it seems like it was not about the numbers as he elected to put pen to paper at Naturena. However, on the other hand, Chiefs had a better signing on-fee than the one of AmaZulu.” Wrote the publication.

The same publication then further reiterated that Mmodi rejected an offer from Pirates in order to finally join Chiefs.
