REVEALED: Wildcats owners very unique Perth penthouse

The Crawley penthouse owned by the late Jack Bendat — businessman, philanthropist and Wildcats owner — has been listed following his death earlier this year.

He and late wife Eleanor bought the sprawling double floor penthouse on Park Avenue in the 1980s, where they ensconced themselves in their beloved colour blue.

Plush blue carpets run throughout the home, which looks onto Perth’s azure skies and the Swan River.

The lounge room has sky blue walls and is decorated with chairs and lounges in four different shades of blue, while the kitchen is decorated with bright blue cabinets.

It seems Crawley has more than one Blue House.

The diminutive businessman — who was worth $639 million at last count — spent most of his final years inside the home.

And it was during this time that his feisty mind long defied his ailing health.

When chair-bound and unable to leave his home several years ago, he invited House That! into his penthouse, displaying the extraordinary mental strength that made him such a dynamo.

During one particularly animated conversation, he explained with great gusto that he got so mad after a recent Wildcats loss that he had wanted to sack everyone.

He then thoughtfully inquired if he could be heard, because his hearing was so bad he could not hear himself speaking.

One only hopes the incredible views from his penthouse were a comfort in his final years, given they overlook King’s Park, Matilda Bay Sailing Club, South Perth, Applecross, the city and the hills.

No doubt he enjoyed the ever-changing view of the city he helped to build.

The penthouse has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and also has the unusual luxury — if you could call it that — of two laundries.

The main bedroom has a spa ensuite with walk-in dressing room.

An open-wood fireplace sits in the family and dining room area, and the 10th floor opens to a large terracotta-tiled terrace.

The home has secure parking for three cars and access to a residents’-only pool.

Upon his passing, the home was inherited by daughter Laura Machlin, who has listed the property with real estate agent Willie Porteous, who is seeking expressions of interest.

Both declined to comment.
