Ricki Lake Posts a Photo of Her “Dramatic Success” Following Hair Loss

Being a famous person with hair loss can’t be easy, given the condition has historically been fodder for terrible “jokes” and rude comments — including the one that caused that Oscars slap. But that didn’t stop Ricki Lake from sharing her androgenetic alopecia story on Instagram. And now, she’s shouting-out the products responsible for her “dramatic success.”

The original Hairspray star’s before-and-after post showed one photo taken in December 2019 next to another from January 2021. Lake, who is 53, credits Harklinikken shampoo, conditioner, and extract for her hair growth. “I could not be happier with my results and to finally be at peace with my hair loss struggles,” she wrote in a caption.

Lake has dealt with hair loss for over three decades, but only opened up about the issue last year. “It has been debilitating, embarrassing, painful, scary, depressing, lonely, all the things,” Lake wrote in an Instagram caption at the time. “There have been a few times where I have even felt suicidal over it.”

Ultimately, Lake went to the Beverly Hills location of Harklinikken, a hair clinic known for its celebrity clientele, where she was diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia. Lake told People earlier this year that the regimen she used at the clinic was a “miracle,” adding, “I’ve more than regained my hair. It’s healthier than it’s ever been.”
