Rio Ferdinand has named the four teams he thinks will progress to the Champions League semi-finals following the quarter-final draw on Friday.

Eight teams remain in the competition including English sides Manchester City and Chelsea, who have been drawn against one of the favourites Bayern Munich and reigning champions Real Madrid respectively.

The winners of each tie will face each other in the semi-finals for a place in the final which will be held on Saturday 10 June at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.

On the other side of the draw, dark horses Napoli will face fellow Italian side AC Milan, while Inter Milan take on Portuguese giants Benfica.

The Champions League resumes shortly after the international break in April, but Manchester United legend Ferdinand has already made his predictions as to who will advance to the next round.

‘Qualifying….. Real, City, Inter, Napoli,’ the former defender wrote on Twitter.

Ferdinand has on multiple occasions stated his belief that City will finally win their first Champions League trophy this season having come so close over the past couple of years.

That being said, earlier this week he said that only two teams posed a real threat to their campaign – Bayern and Napoli, and City fans will no doubt agree that the German giants were one of, if not the worst draw possible.

In the meantime, the Citizens host Championship side Burnley in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are expected to be knocked out at quarter-final stage by Real Madrid – just as they were last year – but nevertheless, Graham Potter is excited by the prospect of playing Los Blancos.

‘I’ve said we will try to win the Champions League and that’s the same for the other seven clubs in the draw I’m sure.

‘We will focus on Real Madrid when we get there but at the moment our thoughts are on tomorrow and Everton. I’d rather focus on Everton because the other stuff is a long way away.’
