London-based label AFFXWRKS has just presented a rebellious selection of workwear silhouettes for Spring/Summer 2023. For its latest preview, the brand continues to explore the concept of functional utilitarianism, being in balance between abstraction and basic themes.
Inspired by ‘90s Birmingham soundsystems and their impact on house and techno music, the imprint—founded by Taro Ray, Stephen Mann, Michael Kopelman and Kiko Kostadinov—has referenced the iconic tunes birthed across the West Midlands with a series of technical designs. The results range from crease-dyed workwear jackets and matching paint-smudged hoodies, to holographic mesh tops slated for the dancefloor.
The collection also includes a series of protective menswear silhouettes that offer increased breathability through ribcage cut-outs, as well as stained variations in discoloured brown hues. In addition to crewnecks and tees, the offering is rounded out by sleek tracksuits, shoulder bags and chained eyewear.
