Robbie Williams, 49, admitted he almost didn’t make a meeting during the filming of his upcoming Netflix documentary as he knew he’d be faced with his past self.

The former Take That member, who found fame when he joined the pop group in 1990, made the candid revelation in an upcoming trailer for the series.

Robbie candidly admitted: “I’m late today because I didn’t want to come. There was… more of me that I didn’t want to face, I think.”

Robbie then reportedly asked in the trailer, seen by The Sun: “Can you tell me what lies ahead of you?”

And he replied: “I’m about to watch somebody having a nervous, mental breakdown.”

Robbie then recounted his legendary Knebworth 2003 performance, which he described as “seismic”.

He said: “It’s the biggest experience of my life doing Knebworth. The blanket of people en mass. 125,000 each night, and it was seismic.

“This is the height of my career. This is the biggest thing that I’ve ever done. It’s all ramping up to this.”

He went on: “I’m experiencing a huge high. Now, the audience are incredible. Everything I’m doing is working, and there is mass adulation. Professionally, I’m riding the crest of a wave.”

The multi-part series will be released this year and will include never before seen footage as well as unfiltered access to the former Take That star.

The project is being produced by the creators of the critically-acclaimed 2015 Amy Winehouse documentary, Amy.

The official synopsis reads: “The multi-part series which will launch in 2023 will be an unfiltered, in-depth examination of a global icon and natural-born-entertainer who had to navigate the highs and lows of being in the limelight for more than 30 years.

“It will cover Robbie navigating media scrutiny throughout his career, adulation and addiction, professional and personal break-ups, reunions, recovery, and the impact they have had on his mental health.

“Featuring 25 years’ worth of intimate, never-before-seen archive, and exclusive access to Robbie; this definitive series is a no-holds-barred look at the entertainer and will reveal a more nuanced and multifaceted character.”
