Robert Lewandowski named Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year 2021

ZURICH, 17th January, 2022 (WAM) — Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski has been named the FIFA Best Men’s Player of the Year for the second time in a row.

Lewandowski – who claimed the 2020 award after becoming the first player to win and top score in each of the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League and DFB Cup, with a combined 55 goals – beat off competition from Ballon d’Or holder Lionel Messi (Paris Saint-Germain) and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Alexia Putellas was recognised as The Best FIFA Women’s Player after previously winning the Ballon d’Or, while Edouard Mendy, Thomas Tuchel and Erik Lamela were among the others recognised.
