Robert Williams Was Dealing With Previously Unknown Health Issue In Game 7

The Boston Celtics’ season came to an end on Monday with their loss to the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

An ankle injury to star Jayson Tatum early in Monday’s game set the tone for what would go on to be a convincing Heat win, but another Celtics player was dealing with health problems of his own in Game 7.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Celtics center Robert Williams played through a stomach virus on Monday night. The Celtics big man was reportedly throwing up during the game.

Williams managed to put up 8 points and 6 rebounds in 14 minutes of play on Monday, which is impressive considering the ailment he was dealing with.

The Celtics fought hard to make it to a Game 7 at home after falling into a 3-0 hole to start the series.

Unfortunately, it appears that injury, illness and poor play caught up to them when it mattered most.

For much of the season, the Celtics were considered one of the elite teams in the Eastern Conference. They carried that reputation into the playoffs, where they defeated the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers.

Boston had a chance to make history on Monday by becoming the first team in NBA history to win a series after going down 3-0.

It appears that the task was too tall to handle, which shows just how difficult it can be to win four consecutive games in the NBA playoffs.
