Barry Robson refused to be drawn on whether his hat is in the ring for the permanent manager’s job at Aberdeen despite the Dons’ faithful chanting his name following the win over Hearts.
A brace from Duk and a Mattie Pollock goal were enough to sweep aside Robbie Neilson’s men at Pittodrie and hoist the club into fourth – four points behind their opponents.
Robson has been in charge on an interim basis since January after the sacking of Jim Goodwin and has led the side to four wins from five games.
But he refused to say whether he was confident of landing the job full time having soaked in the adulation of the support.
“I have been with the club a long time and I am from up here,” he said.
“I am not bothered if the fans sing my name, I just want to win football matches for them so they can go home happy.
“Some of these fans have been working hard all week. They come here and just want to see a bit of excitement.”
Duk and strike partner Bojan Miovski now have 28 league goals between them this campaign.
The Portuguese-born forward was on the scoresheet twice in the first 21 minutes and Robson was delighted with the fast start.
“The way we want to play and the way an Aberdeen fan wants to see their team play is fast, quick and up-and-at-you, playing through the lines and exciting,” he said.
“It is not easy to get that every week. It is a really hard way of playing and you have got to be skilled at it, physically ready for it and play the right passes at the right times.
“But the players did it perfectly in the first half.
“We have seen signs of it in the last few weeks, there have been some good performances and we have scored some really good goals.”
