Rodrigo’s strike earns City first CL glory

ABU DHABI, 11th June, 2023 (WAM) — A fantastic strike from Rodrigo that left Inter’s goalkeeper Onana with no chance on the 69th minutes, and an incredible save from Ederson on the 88th minute earned the City their first ever Champions League trophy at Ataturk Stadium in the Başakşehir district of Istanbul, tonight.

Inter’s physicality dominated the match making it extremally difficult for the City players to deliver their magic throughout the tight encounter.

A mixture of elation and relief were seen on the pitch as the City players celebrated a truly remarkable achievement.

For Pep, it was the 14th and greatest major prize of his incredible City reign.

Tonight success in Istanbul also means that City have qualified for next season’s UEFA Super Cup final – to be staged in Piraeus, Greece against Sevilla in August – as well as the 2023 Club World Cup – which will be held in Saudi Arabia in December of this year.
