Rolling Stone Lands 15 L.A. Press Club Award Nominations

The publication received nods in Journalist of the Year, Diversity in the Entertainment Industry, and more in the 2023 National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards

The Los Angeles Press Club revealed the list of nominees for their annual National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards, and Rolling Stone has earned 17 nominations across works of reporting and criticism.

Among the highest honors of the awards, Rolling Stone‘s Cheyenne Roundtree has been nominated for Journalist of the Year in the Online category; Alan Sepinwall nominated for T.V. Critic of the Year; David Fear for Film Critic of the Year; and Julyssa Lopez has received a nod in the Diversity in the Entertainment Industry category for her stunning piece, How a High School Mariachi Team Triumphed in Uvalde.

Nominations in the Print category also highlighted works by Roundtree and Jason Newman for their deep dive, Inside Kanye West’s Yeezy: Abrupt Firings, Alleged Nazi Inspiration and ‘Pure Chaos,’ and Brian Hiatt’s illuminating profile of Ed Sheeran, Tears, Trauma, and Those Bad Habits.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Rolling Stone Music Now, run by Hiatt, swooped a nomination for Best Arts or Entertainment Regular Podcast; while Krystie Lee Yandoli’s piece The Kelly Clarkson Show’ Is Toxic Behind the Scenes and Roundtree’s The Idol: How HBO’s Next ‘Euphoria’ Became Twisted ‘Torture Porn’ were both nominated for the Hard News, TV/Streaming/Arts, Online category.

Roundtree continued to rake in the nods with honors in Celebrity Investigative for her story Jonathan Majors’ ‘Extreme Abuse’ Allegedly Goes Back Nearly a Decade, Entertainment Industry/Arts Investigative with another nomination for The Idol, and Celebrity News, Online for What the Hell Is Going on at Kanye West’s Mysterious New Private School? in collaboration with Newman.

Rolling Stone’s Miles Klee and Marlow Stern also were featured as nominees in Humor Writing for What Is ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ Like on Shrooms?, and Hiatt received additional nods in the Business, Tech/Arts Related category for Ready to Sing Elvis Karaoke … as Elvis? The Weird Rise of AI Music as part of Future of Music, plus Mariah Carey Tells All! for One-on-One Interview.
