Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min has shared Cristian Romero’s important role within the club’s dressing room.
Romero has become a key cog in the Spurs defence following his signing from Atalanta last summer. And his importance on the pitch was on full display once again as Spurs kept themselves in the race for Champions League qualification with a 3-1 win over Leicester City on Sunday.
Son Heung-min gave him a special mention following the win over the Foxes as he revealed just how Romero “changes everything” behind the scenes at the club. And following his impressive performance Dejan Kulusevski revealed the fitting new nickname the centre-back has been given by his teammates.
And Dane Scarlett’s role at the club next season has emerged.

Scarlett’s role next season
Dane Scarlett is set to be sent out on loan next season, according to reports.
Spurs want to send the young striker out on loan so he can gain vital first team experience to help aid his development, football.london reports. Spurs are expected to sign a striker to support Harry Kane, meaning Scarlett may be offered even fewer opportunities to break into the first-team fold if he does choose to remain at the club rather than take a loan move.
He could head out to the Championship, although it is claimed a move to League One could suit the 18-year-old more.
Romero’s new nickname
Spurs winger Dejan Kulusevski has come up with a new nickname for teammate Cristian Romero following the defender’s impressive performance against Leicester City.
The Argentina international delivered one of his best performances in a Spurs shirt as he proved both solid at the back and regularly pushed on to offer teammates another option in the final third. Romero was given the nickname ‘Cuti’ as a youngster as he struggled to say ‘Cristian’.
And, taking to social media following the Leicester game, Kulusevski combined Romero’s current nickname with a new one as he dubbed the centre-back “Cuti Beckenbauer” in praise of his teammate, football.london reports.
Son praises teammate
Spurs forward Son Heung-min was also full of praise for Cristian Romero following the win over Leicester City.
But while Romero put in an impressive performance on the pitch for Spurs, it was his work behind the scenes that Son chose to highlight. The South Korean said his teammate tries “really hard, wanting to speak to everyone, so this brings us all more and more closer and this changes everything”.
