Ronaldo and Messi set for another showdown after PSG arrange Saudi friendly

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi could be set for one more titanic battle following the Portuguese star’s move to Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo put pen to paper on a two-year deal with Saudi outfit Al-Nassr, bringing an end to a glittering career in Europe.

The money-spinning switch is set to earn Ronaldo around £175 million-a-year in a move that Al-Nassr described as ‘history in the making’.

While some have been left bemused by Ronaldo’s choice to leave Europe, the move may present him with one final showdown with Messi later this month.

Paris Saint-Germain will travel to Saudi Arabia to take part in a mid-season friendly against a combined eleven from Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal.

It’s likely to set up another encounter between Messi vs Ronaldo which could well be the last instalment in their incredible rivalry.

Messi is currently in Argentina celebrating last month’s World Cup success but is preparing to resume duties in the French capital with PSG boss Christophe Galtier confirming Messi will return to the club on January 3.

The Argentine is not set to return to action until mid-January and Galtier could use the friendly as a tune-up game before unleashing the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner ahead of next month’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.

Ronaldo’s game time has been greatly reduced this season after falling out of favour at Manchester United before leaving Old Trafford in November.

He also lost his place in the Portugal side at the World Cup and was used sparingly in the knockout stages.

The game is sure to attract plenty of attention from fans around the world and will inevitably spark the age-old comparisons of who is the superior player.
