Cristiano Ronaldo currently plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, following his unceremonious January move from Manchester United. Lionel Messi, on the other hand, has moved to USA-based club Inter Miami after his deal at PSG expired.
The two legends of the game have shared the centre stage for more than half a decade now. But the rivalry and the subtle war of words are still at large. In a recent interview, Ronaldo took a dig at the league his nemesis Messi has joined.
Ronaldo confirmed he will not be returning to Europe ever. The Portuguese said the door for Europe is closed and also commented on the lack of quality in several European leagues.
“I’m 38 years old, also European football has lost a lot of quality… only valid one is Premier League, they’re way ahead of all the other leagues,” Ronaldo was quoted as saying by Portuguese outlet A Bola.
And when asked about the league Lionel Messi has joined, Ronaldo said,”The USA? No, the Saudi championship is much better than the USA.”
Cristiano Ronaldo: “In one year, more & more top players will come to Saudi” ????????
“In a year Saudi league will overtake the Turkish league and Dutch league”.
“Players who arrived aren’t like what the president of the European Union said”.

Messi joined Inter Miami recently and will play for the MLS club for the upcoming season or so. The Argentine will be hoping to do a miracle to take his team to the playoffs as Inter languish at the bottom of the table.
Ronaldo, on the other hand, took his team close to a league win but fell short to finish only 2nd in the Saudi Pro League. Following Ronaldo’s arrival in the winter, several top players have already joined different Saudi clubs from various European Leagues.
Players like N’Golo Kante (Chelsea), Karim Benzema (Real Madrid), Ruben Neves (Wolves), Edouard Mendy (Chelsea), Marcelo Brozovic (Inter) have joined different Saudi clubs as it aspires to reach lofty heights in the world of football.
