Dad-of-five Ronan Keating has opened up on having ‘the snip’, after previously spoken out about having a vasectomy.
The 45-year-old is joining Pixie Lott, Danny Jones and Will.i.am as a new coach on The Voice Kids.
However, instead of the talent competition making him broody, he’s happy with his decision to have the snip, he revealed to Metro.co.uk and other press.
When probed on whether he’s already had it done, he teased: ‘Not yet but soon, very soon actually.’
The Boyzone singer added: ‘I’m cool with that, I’ve got five incredible kids, I’m happy, I’m lucky.’
Ronan’s claim that he hasn’t had a vasectomy yet appeared to conflict with his previous assertion that he already had the procedure done, as revealed on an episode of Celebrity Juice last year.
‘I’ve had it, I’ve had it. I’ve had the snip! Freedom! Freedom!’ the singer said on the ITV show at the time.
Ronan shares three children with ex Yvonne Connolly: Love Island star Jack, 23, Missy, 21 and Ali, 16.
He also has two children with wife Storm Keating, whom he married in 2015: Cooper, five, and Coco Knox, two.
Speaking about his children and how being a dad has shaped his role as a coach, Ronan elsewhere told us: ‘I’ve got five kids, from 23 down to two, so yeah, my kids could be on the adult Voice and the young one.
‘My kids are my world they’re everything to me, and my son is 23, he’s like my best mate, and I was only a kid before I had him really, I was a father before I was a man, and I remember I learnt an awful lot about myself at that age.
‘I was only 22 years old, and then understanding the children, in the years that followed, so for me yes absolutely, I see my children in every contestant that’s on that stage, and I’m thinking, “My God”.
‘You’ve got to think about every single word you’re saying because it’s incredibly important and more so I take a father’s approach to every contestant that walks on stage and try and handle the kids’ thoughts and look after them and make sure that they’re protected.’
He added: ‘You don’t want to upset them or hurt them but at the same time you don’t want to give them false hope, which is as important.’
The Voice Kids returns to ITV on Monday, December 26 at 8:30pm.
