Seven-time world snooker champion Ronnie O’Sullivan may have landed himself in hot water after swearing live on television following his stunning exit from the World Grand Prix.
‘The Rocket’ was ousted from the last 16 at The Centaur in Cheltenham after he lost 4-2 to Thailand’s Noppon Saengkham. O’Sullivan appeared to take the defeat in stride before venting some of his frustration in an X-rated slip of the tongue.
“I don’t really worry myself with making events and making c****,” said the 47-year-old before quickly correcting himself. “Sorry, cuts!”

The stunning defeat means two-time Players Championship-winner O’Sullivan is now a doubt to qualify for the 2023 edition in February. However, the veteran wasn’t sweating over the prospect of not featuring in Wolverhampton next month.
“I play every tour as it is, I enjoy playing and competing,” he continued. “If I don’t make the Players Championship, I will fill my time with exhibitions. I just love playing and being on the road. The thought of not being on the road isn’t a good feeling. There is always a back-up plan.”

Saengkham, 30, deserved all the credit coming his way after recording four consecutive frame wins having fallen 2-0 behind early on in Wednesday’s clash. The Thai talent will have been relieved considering he had multiple opportunities to complete the comeback before finally edging O’Sullivan out of the running.
His next challenge will be a quarter-final showdown against either Mark Williams or Ding Junhui. Despite his explicit gaffe, The Rocket was also highly complimentary of his opponent in defeat.
“He played amazing, he potted some great balls,” praised a humble O’Sullivan. “He just played brilliant. He’s such an improved player, I watched him play Selby, he played some fantastic stuff and carried it through today.
“I gave it my best, it wasn’t good enough on the day. If I played well or bad I don’t really know. I was 2-0 up, he managed to reel off four frames on the spin, so every credit to him.”
