Brecel won the last seven frames of the match to beat O’Sullivan 13-10 in the quarter-finals of the World Championship in a sensational upset.
Prior to this year Brecel had never won a match at the Crucible on five visits to the venue, but he has now downed Ricky Walden, Mark Williams and the Rocket on a stunning run to the semis.
O’Sullivan will remain on seven world titles for now, but was seriously impressed with what he saw from the Bullet.
‘He played unbelievable, he’s such a good player, I love watching him play,’ O’Sullivan told the BBC. ‘He gets through the ball so well, it’s incredible.
‘Such a dynamic player, full of talent, probably the most talented player I’ve ever seen.
‘I’d love to see him go and win it for snooker, because that’s how snooker should be played.
‘Phenomenal talent, phenomenal player, lovely boy, I wish him all the best and I hope he goes on and wins the tournament now.’
He added: ‘Phenomenal, brilliant, amazing. What a player, what a cueist, what a talent. Never seen a talent like that before, never. No one plays like that, impossible.
‘I don’t think he realises how talented he is. It’s very hard for you to see your own gift, but he is one talented snooker player.’
The 28-year-old was delighted but not surprised with how he performed, saying: ‘It’s a great feeling to play like that, fantastic.
‘I’m not surprised to play like that, but it is amazing to beat someone like Ronnie from so far behind, to play like that is good.
‘I felt good from 10-9 down, before that I wasn’t feeling good, but I felt better and better. I made some good breaks to win the match.
‘I don’t really get nervous, my heart stayed the same rate but I was still very happy to win.’
Next up for the Belgian Bullet is either Anthony McGill or Si Jiahui in an unlikely semi-final which guarantees us a first time finalist at the Crucible this year.
