True to its name, Rudy’s Can’t Fail Cafe is making a comeback.
About a month after announcing its permanent closure, the 20-year-old Emeryville restaurant is reopening under new ownership. As first reported by The E’ville Eye, a sign posted on the restaurant’s door this week at 4081 Hollis St. shared the news that the restaurant has been acquired by a trio of former employees and will be reopening in mid-October.
As the new owners, longtime Rudy’s general manager Douglas Smith, head chef Guadalupe Rivera and former sous chef Nelson Ortiz promise to bring back customer favorites, including the homestyle meatloaf, “Monster” burger and other American comfort food classics.
The restaurant will continue its popular all-day breakfast and brunch menu, and The E’ville Eye reports there will be updates, including the expansion of its outdoor patio space with additional picnic bench seating.
