Netflix on Tuesday unveiled the power-packed trailer of Russo Brothers’ The Gray Man starrring Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling, Dhanush, Billy Bob Thornton and Ana de Armas in pivotal roles. Post the trailer, both Joe Russo and Anthony Russo hosted a Twitter space via Netflix Film account to discuss the upcoming movie, what people can expect and more. In the trailer, one sees Indian actor Dhanush in action-packed avatar. The Gray Man marks Dhanush’s second outing in Hollywood after 2018 film, The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir.
Russo Brothers say Dhanush’s character in The Gray Man could lead to a spin-off – “He’s a sort of classic badass character who shows up to combat the hero”
During the chat, Joe said that Dhanush’s character is so strong that a spin-off is very much in their mind. “Dhanush plays one of the top assassins of the world. He’s sent after Ryan’s character in the movie. He’s got two incredible fights in the film. Anthony and I are Dhanush’s fans. We wrote this role specifically for him. He’s a sort of classic badass character, who shows up to combat the hero and complicate the film. He’s a fun character. He’s unique. Dhanush has a great presence on the camera. The character is almost mystical in a way. If the audience like this film, we expand the storytelling from here. This character is a fascinating character to move forward in that world,” he said during the Twitter space on Tuesday.
The Gray Man is CIA operative Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling), aka, Sierra Six. Plucked from a federal penitentiary and recruited by his handler, Donald Fitzroy (Billy Bob Thornton), Gentry was once a highly-skilled, Agency-sanctioned merchant of death. But now the tables have turned and Six is the target, hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former cohort at the CIA, who will stop at nothing to take him out. “The trash stache… It just leans Lloyd,” Gosling tells Evans in a face-off. It seems like Court and Lloyd were work buddies at one point for CIA before now Court is being hunted down because it seems like he possesses something. Thankfully, agent Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas) has his back. He’ll need it. Indian actor Dhanush is also seen in the trailer who is indulged in an action mode.
