Ryan Gosling Is Bringing Back Bangs (and Highlights) for Men

Ryan Gosling is bringing bangs back. The Barbie star ditched his platinum blonde Ken doll coif in favor of a perfectly-imperfect cut with a touch of beachy blonde highlights.

Gosling headed to London for a TAG Heuer Carrera party and posed for pics to show off his new style, a much longer length than we’ve seen from the star as of late, though not quite as long as his Notebook-era Noah look. His dark blonde hair is cut in choppy, forehead-skimming bangs to match the tousled texture of the rest of his hair, as though he just ran his hands through it to mess it up ever so perfectly.

Bangs aren’t the only trend Gosling is embracing these days. He’s also got highlights! If you look closely, you’ll see the glint of teeny-tiny but impactful warm blonde highlights picking up the spotlight and adding depth and dimension to Gosling’s base color, which looks pretty close to his childhood hue. The look is giving leading man in a Y2K romantic comedy in the best way — maybe a potential clue at what’s to come from the Barbie movie, where Gosling plays the lovelorn Ken? And speaking of Ken … while this recent red carpet look is a huge departure from the tanned, white-blonde Ken seen in the Barbie trailer, it does resemble something my Ken dolls would have rocked back in the ’90s too.
