Ryan Reynolds has a “HUGH” Deadpool sequel update

Fans may have disappointed to find absolutely no status updates regarding the Deadpool sequel film, now officially part of Marvel Studios thanks to the Disney Fox acquisition, at neither Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at SDCC nor D23. In between his Aviation American Gin business and owning the Wrexham soccer team, mega-star Ryan Reynolds took time out of his scheduled to update fans about the Deadpool 3 film on his social media.

And…he’s got nothing. BUT he did offer SOMETHING that will definitely excite fans…

That’s right, Hugh Jackman is popping the claws one more time as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, the first R-rated movie of Marvel Studios set for release apparently on September 6, 2024.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, screenwriters of the first two Deadpool films and frequeent collabors with Reynolds, R, are set to pen the third installment. Likewise, director Shawn Levy was announced earlier this year to helm the film after previously collaborating with Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project on Netflix.

Most assumed that Logan would be Hugh Jackman‘s final outing and worthy swan song as the iconic mutant X-Man and a worthy. But actors reprising classic superhero roles is all the rage nowadays (look no further than Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

We’ve still yet to see the X-Men introduced in the “proper” MCU i.e. the sacred timeline. The recent Ms. Marvel series deviated from the comics by revealing the titular character as a mutant making Kamala Khan the first mutant introduced in the MCU. And of course Patrick Stewart reprised his role as Professor X in the Earth-838 universe. It’s not a question of if but rather when Marvel Studios finally debuts its own version of the X-Men.

Whatever the case, after the abysmal disaster that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine, we’ll finally be able to see Deadpool/Wolverine properly appear together onscreen.
