S.F. 49ers legends will chat it up with Kristi Yamaguchi in new ‘Unscripted’ series

San Francisco 49ers fans have something besides a promising new season to look forward to this fall.

Several iconic San Francisco 49ers will be gathering for what’s sure to be a lively conversation hosted by Olympic Gold Medalist skater and East Bay native Kristi Yamaguchi to launch BroadwaySF’s new “Unscripted” series.

On Sept. 27 at The Curran Theater in San Francisco, renowned 49ers Harris Barton, Brent Jones, Dwight Hicks, Ronnie Lott and Steve Young will rehash memories about teammates, friends, and life on the football field with moderator Yamaguchi in an unscripted conversation presented by BroadwaySF.

The new series is planned to present impromptu conversations with industry pioneers.

Harris Barton is a three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time first-team NFL All-Pro. He was an offensive lineman for the 49ers from 1987 to 1998. Brent Jones also won three Super Bowls as the team’s star tight end from 1987 and 1997. Safety Dwight Hicks, a 49er from 1979-85, was a two-time Super Bowl champion and four-time Pro Bowl winner.

Ronnie Lott, too, was part of the 49ers’ reign in the 1980s, winning four Super Bowls in his 10 years with the team, and was widely considered one of the best safeties in pro football history. Quarterback Steve Young started as Joe Montana’s backup before emerging as a star in is own right, winning three Super Bowls and two NFL Most Valuable Player awards.

Yamaguchi, a Hayward native who grew up in Fremont, was a two-time World Champion figure skater who in 1992 became the first Asian American to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics. She has also made numerous TV appearances and authored five books.

Tickets for “Unscripted” start at $65 and go on sale 10 a.m. July 28 at broadwaysf.com. Guests can also purchase premium tickets to an after-show meet-and-greet. A portion of the proceeds will go to Champion Charities, a nonprofit organization founded by Harris Barton and Ronnie Lott to combat brain cancer and disease.
