Sadie Sink’s new movie, The Whale, sounds so emotional

Speaking of working on a project that’s so different from her acting credits in the past, Sadie recently told Vanity Fair: “I don’t think I’d ever done a project that had that much character work. Darren Aronofsky is obviously brilliant, and working with him was a really formative experience, and Brendan is so incredible in it, and also just probably my favourite human on the planet.

“It was so amazing having that experience with him. I learned a lot about myself as an actress and tapped into a side of things that I hadn’t really explored before.”

What has Brendan said about the film?

Brendan told Uniland: “It’s gonna be like something you haven’t seen before.

“That’s really all I can tell you… The wardrobe and costume was extensive, seamless, cumbersome. This is certainly far removed from anything I’ve ever done but not to be coy… I do know it’s going to make a lasting impression.”

With the first look of Brendan in character being released, future viewers rushed to social media to discuss their excitement at the movie.

One person tweeted: “Whoever decided to cast brendan fraser and sadie sink as father and daughter in the whale, thank you.”

Another wrote: “The whale premiering at the top of the festival and being one of the most anticipated films of the year AND it’s also the first a24 film in five years to premiere at venice. Sadie sink was born to be a star and constantly be in everyone’s mouths and thoughts!”

A third added: “YES Darren Aronofsky is back!!!! Super excited for The Whale!!! Also Brendan Fraser and Sadie Sink are a plus!”

However, there has been criticism over the casting of Brendan, who wore prosthetics for his role as a larger man. Many on Twitter vented their fury that the part should have been given to a plus-size actor, as their roles are already limited.

One person said: “I’m very excited for his return to film, and I’m very excited for Sadie but I am SUPER nervous about how this may end up portraying fat people. I’m gonna give it a chance but I am pretty skeptical towards a film about a fat guy being named The Whale.”

However, another replied: “The discourse for The Whale is gonna be extra annoying because where tf are you supposed to get a 600 lbs. actor???”

When is the release date?

While the movie will premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival later this year, its production company A24 has yet to announce a release date for the drama.
