PLEASANTON — Safeway on Thursday reopened three East Bay stores that it has just finished remodeling in a sign of the grocery titan’s ongoing commitment to the region.

The revamped stores are in Alamo, Danville and San Ramon, Safeway said.

“This is the culmination of Safeway’s investment to enhance the shopping experience throughout its operations,” said Karl Schroeder, the president of the supermarket chain’s Northern California division.

The remodeled stores are expected to feature an array of updated amenities, Safeway said.

“These stores employ hundreds of local residents and will feature premium offerings such as a full-service deli, bakery, meat and seafood counters, fresh produce, floral options and an expanded variety of wine, spirits and beer,” an email to this news organization from a Safeway representative stated.

In addition to these efforts:

— In 2021, Safeway opened two new stores, at San Jose’s Market Park retail center and one in Hercules.

— In 2021, Safeway opened 12 remodeled stores.

— In 2022, Safeway decided to open seven remodeled stores, including the three in the East Bay that reopened on Thursday.

— In 2023, Safeway plans to open a brand-new store in South San Francisco.

The just-opened revamped stores are located at 3496 Camino Tassajara in Danville, 2505 San Ramon Valley Blvd. in San Ramon and 200 Alamo Plaza in Alamo.

“We are excited to continue our ongoing investment in the thriving communities that we serve by remodeling these three premium stores in the East Bay,” Schroeder said.
