A lineup of the Sahajan products that debut on June 1st at luxury Marriott International hotels
Back in 2015 when Indian-inspired beauty was still relatively unknown, Sahajan make it’s successful debut. The clean beauty line is one of my staples (the body oil and pillow mist are my two must have’s!) and was founded by Lisa Mattam, who was born and raised in Toronto and started her career in pharmaceuticals.
When I met Lisa in New York last year, she told me that she became interested in safer and better for you skincare during her second pregnancy. “It occurred to me that I had no idea what ingredients were in the beauty products I was using so I decided to create my own cleaner ones instead,” she said.
Sahajan was an instant hit and stocked in green beauty boutiques such as Credo Beauty and Detox Market. Fast forward to today, and Sahajan is turning the Ayurvedic beauty category into a global phenomenon through a partnership with Marriott International.
As of June 1st, Sahajan products are offered at 400 luxury Marriott hotels around the world including the Ritz-Carlton, W, St. Regis, and JW Marriott brands.
The line is the first Ayurvedic brand to be offered in “in-room” a global luxury hotel brand.

Lisa collaborated with Ayurvedic doctors in Kerala, India, where her parents are from, and modern chemists to create Sahajan. Ayurvedic beauty may be a mainstay now, but Lisa was a leader in bringing it to the forefront. “Knowing that JW Marriott and its luxury hotels needed a skincare partner that could make Ayurveda accessible and recognizing that Sahajan could deliver on luxury, ritual and results – I knew we were the perfect partner”, says Lisa.
Sahajan’s products will be available in over 2000 hotel rooms as part of a Beauty Butler Box program. The lineup includes the turmeric-based Sahajan Golden Milk Cleanser, Unwind Bath Salt, featuring vanilla, grapefruit and lavender, Shanti Pillow Mist, a tincture of lavender, chamomile and geranium oils, and a Gentle Biodegradable Cleansing Face Wipe pack with aloe and cucumber.
“Up until now, only mainstream American or European brands have ever been offered in hotel rooms,” says Lisa. “To see Sahajan products, a mark of South Asian heritage and pride, sitting in-room at hotels like the Ritz Carlton is a signal that Ayurveda arrived.”
As a fan and regular Marriott International client, I, for one, couldn’t be more thrilled.
