The tool is incredibly easy to navigate — you can filter by type of colour, type of finish, and even benefits. And the effect of the polish laying right over your real nails no matter how you move your hand is so cool — kind of like the first time you watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit as a kid and were blown away by the seamless marriage of live-action and animation.
You may recall that Sally Hansen introduced a nail-polish try-on Snapchat lens a couple of years ago, and while this technology is in the same vein, it has clearly taken an even more sophisticated — and more widely available — turn.
“Nail polish is a highly impulsive category — consumers love to experiment with any number of shades and finishes. Now, Sally Hansen fans can feel free to play even more with our new virtual try-on tool,” Jean-Denis Mariani, chief digital officer at Sally Hansen’s parent company, Coty, said in a statement. “The technology that Perfect Corp. has created is truly unmatched in the market — offering an augmented reality experience where consumers see how a precisely colour-matched polish performs on their exact skin tone and nail shape and in changing lighting.”
Within just a couple of minutes of using the feature, I became convinced that I need the Good. Kind. Pure. shade Pomegranate Punch in my life immediately. I might have overlooked it in the store, thinking it wasn’t the right red for my skin tone, but I have never been so happy to be corrected. And because the technology lets you take a little souvenir photo, I’m going to share it with you now, so you, too, can see how great that shade looks on even my currently stubby little nails.
Once you’ve landed on a product you surely want, the Sally Hansen site will guide you to either an online retailer or brick-and-mortar store where you can buy your new favourite shade with the most confidence you’ve ever had going into a nail polish purchase.
