Salt & Straw announced the flavors for its 2022 Holiday Series today, Nov. 25. The artisanal ice cream maker has created five nostalgic tastes this year, ranging from a spiked eggnog collaboration with Dwaye “The Rock” Johnson to a vegan frozen dessert packed with cookies. Salt & Straw ice cream shops, including its nine locations in Los Angeles and Orange counties, will serve the flavors for the month of December. The seasonal 5 pack is available online and instore for $85. Individual pints are $11.75.
The most anticipated flavor of the series is a collaboration with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson called Dwanta’s Teremana Spiked Eggnog. The vanilla custard ice cream is combined with Johnson’s tequila, Teremana’s Reposado, and a splash of amontillado sherry. For every Dwanta pint sold, Salt & Straw and Teremana will each donate a dollar to World Central Kitchen. The nonprofit organization founded by chef José Andrés in 2010 is devoted to providing meals after natural disasters. World Central Kitchen also aids people affected by wars such as the conflict in Ukraine.
Other flavors from the series include a Gingerbread Cookie Dough ice cream inspired by Salt & Straw chef Tyler Malek’s grandma’s cookies. The rum royal icing ice cream is mixed with homemade molasses cookie butter and gingerbread cookie pieces.
Salt & Straw always offers something unique for its vegan customers. The holiday series also includes a vegan ice cream called The Great Cookie Swap. It’s packed with cookies: pieces of marionberry thumbprint cookies, chocolate almond bars, molasses cookies, and snickerdoodles, are mixed in with sweet coconut cream.
The remaining flavors in the Holiday Series are Almond Brittle with Salted Ganache and Peppermint Cocoa.
