Sam Aston has revealed his new daughter was welcomed into the world with an incredible home water birth – even if he had to miss the football!
The Coronation Street actor, who has played Chesney Brown on the cobbles since 2003, and his yoga teacher wife Briony have introduced baby Daisy after her arrival last month.
Introducing her to OK! Magazine with the help of son 22-months-old son Sonny, the couple have discussed the home birth.
Sam was putting the family’s dinner on and getting ready to sit down and catch the game when he heard noises upstairs.
He quickly figured out what was going on and was straight on the phone to their midwife.
Sam said: “It all happened so fast. We’d just had some tea and then I put the telly on to watch some football, but then all of a sudden I heard Briony upstairs.
“I could tell Briony’s contractions were coming thick and fast, so I was called the midwife and was like, ‘Quick you need to get here now!’”
Briony chipped in: “I was mooing! I was in the shower but I had to get out as the birthing pool was filling up so slowly. Sam and my dad, who came to watch Sonny, were just running around with kettles filling up the pool.
“It was euphoric. It was exactly what I wanted. I would do that every day of my life if I could!”

On the name Daisy Josephine the couple said it was the only name name they could both agree on.
The teacher added that ‘Josephine’ is a nod to Sam’s brother Joe and my grandad Joe, while explaining that Daisy is also the French name for Marguerite, something special for her mum Margaret.
Tired Sam says he now knows how overworked dad Chesney feels on Corrie.
The long-serving soap star says he is now taking his work home with him.

“My current life actually goes very well with my storyline and Chesney having quads,” he went on.
“It’s full-on from the moment we wake up. It’s like having a job! Sonny has us up at 5am and there is no time to think as the day is just gone.
“If you see me looking knackered on the screen it’s because I am! A lot of people go to work for a break from their kids but I’ve got five kids at work.”
