The trailer for Samaritan, the upcoming Sylvester Stallone-led superhero film, has finally been released by Amazon. The actor portrays a retired superhero as he begrudgingly returns to fighting evil while keeping away from the public eye. Interestingly, in the poster and certain scenes, fans pointed out how Stallone has uncanny resemblance to Amitabh Bachchan.

Joining Stallone in Samaritan are Javon “Wanna” Walton, Pilou Asbæk, Martin Starr, Moises Arias, and Dascha Polanco. Directed by Julius Avery, the film is based on a script from a committee of writers including Bragi F. Schut, Mark L. Smith, Zak Penn, and Chuck MacLean.
The official synopsis for the film reads, “Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty five years ago, Granite City’s super powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis.”
The synopsis continues, “Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.” Stallone stars as Joe Smith (the fabled superhero Samaritan), one-half of the buddy duo formed by teenage actor Javon “Wanna” Walton.
As Coming Soon media portal notes, the new trailer gives an in-depth look at Stallone as the titular hero, who disappeared after an incident over two decades prior to the start of the film. His character performs some stunning feats, and finds himself once again in the world of crime-fighting and heroism. Samaritan is produced by Sylvester Stallone and Braden Aftergood, with Scut, David Kern, Adam Rosenberg, and Guy Riedel serving as executive producers.
The film will debut on August 26, exclusively on Prime Video. Watch the trailer below!
