Samsung’s ultimate Galaxy S23 Ultra is surprisingly affordable to own

For a limited time, you can get your hands on the top-of-the-range Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra for less than the entry-level model. Yes, really.

Sky Mobile has dropped the price of the ultimate Galaxy S23 Ultra model – which packs a whopping 512GB of built-in storage – below the cost of the standard handset (with 256GB of storage).

For comparison, Samsung is currently charging customers an extra £150 to upgrade from the standard 256GB model to the 512GB Galaxy S23 Ultra when bought from its online store. With the latest Sky Mobile deal, you’ll spend £1 less every month.

This sort of Galaxy S23 Ultra deal is almost unheard of.

For those who want to store thousands of photos, boxsets to binge, documents, and music on their Galaxy S23 Ultra, spending less money to get twice as much storage is a no-brainer. As well as the additional storage, the 512GB model comes with 12GB of RAM – compared to 8GB with the entry-level model. This additional 4GB of memory will improve performance on the handset, especially when jumping between multiple apps or running software side-by-side.

Sky Mobile plans start from £53 per month for 3GB of speedy 5G data, as well as unlimited calls and texts. Sky Mobile, which shares O2’s network nationwide to keep its customers connected to 5G, is currently offering 30GB for the price it usually charges for 13GB. In total, that costs £59 per month with the phone.

Those who opt for the £53 per month plan would spend £1,824 over the course of the contract, which lasts up to 36-months for the handset, although you can upgrade to a new Sky Mobile deal within 24-months. Bought outright from Samsung without any calls, texts, or 5G data, you’ll need to spend £1,399 to get your hands on the Galaxy S23 Ultra with 512GB of storage.

Paired with 30GB of 5G data, the total cost rises to £1,968.

Sky Mobile rolls unused data onto the next month, so you’ll never lose any of the 5G data allowance that you’ve paid for.

It also won’t count mobile data used on any Sky-branded apps – including Sky Go, Sky Sports, and Sky News – towards your monthly total. That means you can stream every episode of Succession, House of the Dragon, Mare of Easttown, and Game Of Thrones on your morning commute without using any of your 5G data. That still leaves plenty for Spotify, Google Maps, WhatsApp, YouTube, and more.

It’s worth noting that Sky Mobile has reintroduced EU roaming charges, so you will need to pay extra to access your calls, texts and mobile data when travelling in Europe. If that’s a deal-breaker, there are some networks – like O2 and Virgin Mobile – that have refused to charge customers to use their monthly plan abroad.
