SAN JOSEAn art teacher at a San Jose elementary school was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of child molestation, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.

Stephen Eugene Thai, 33, was accused of sexually assaulting two students during his after-school art program between 2016 and 2017. The students were 7-years old at the time, the sheriff’s office said.
Sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday arrested Thai on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, contacting a minor to commit a sex crime and annoying and molesting a child under the age of 18, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities opened an investigation in September after accusations surfaced that Thai committed a sexual assault between 2016 and 2017. The Sheriff’s Office did not say where Thai had worked at the time of the allegations or his work status at the time of his arrest.
Thai was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail without bail.
Sheriff’s investigators said they believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with more information can call the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office at 408-808-4500.
