San Jose lights it up with Fourth of July celebrations

San Jose lights it up with Fourth of July celebrations

San Jose skies will be well-lit on the Fourth of July and the weekend preceding it.

Giants fireworks

The San Jose Giants are starting the party early with fireworks after their games against the Modesto Nuts July 1-3. Games start at 6:30 p.m. at Excite Stadium, 588 E. Alma Ave. For tickets, visit https://www.milb.com/san-jose/tickets/promotions.

Rose, White & Blue Parade

In the Rose Garden neighborhood, the Rose, White & Blue Parade and Festival steps off July 4 at 9:45 a.m. near the Lincoln High School campus and winds along The Alameda and Naglee Avenue. After the community groups march by and local politicians traverse the route in classic cars, the parade’s nonprofit organizers will host a classic Fourth of July party. This afternoon event runs until 3 p.m. and features performances by parade participants, local musicians, dancers and poets; food and culture vendors; and dancing and interactive activities for families. Rotary fireworks

While there’s time between the end of Rose, White & Blue and the beginning of Rotary Fireworks Downtown it might be wise to head to Discovery Meadow Park, 180 Woz Way, early to stake out some real estate, as this free show tends to draw large crowds.

Entertainment, provided by San Jose Jazz, will start at 7 p.m., with fireworks to follow at 9:30, lasting approximately 25 minutes.

The show is presented by the Rotary Club of San Jose, with support from the office of Mayor Sam Liccardo and the Office of Cultural Affairs. For more information, visit https://sjrotary.org/rotary-fireworks-downtown.

Fireworks fest at Almaden Lake

Fourth of July festivities at Almaden Lake Regional Park, 6099 Winfield Blvd., run 3-10:30 p.m., with fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Activities include a Fun Zone, food trucks, live music and entertainment and a costume contest.

If you go, don’t bring alcohol, weapons, barbecues, drones, pets or emotional support animals, and don’t ride bikes or drive vehicles in the park. And leave the fireworks to the experts; don’t bring your own.
