Chick-fil-A opened its first new-generation restaurant for Silicon Valley today, and it’s designed to cater to diners on the go. The drive-thru is located at Silver Creek Valley Road, just east of Highway 101, in South San Jose, and will serve customers from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Saturday in the vehicle lanes, and until 9:30 p.m. at the carry-out windows.
Franchise owner Zach Jones is hiring 150 full-time and part-time employees for this location.
Why no indoor seating? Chick-fil-A’s research has shown that customers in this market haven’t exhibited a strong desire to head inside to eat, so the company put the focus on commuters and other takeout customers. With a double drive-thru and multiple walk-up windows, order wait times should be minimized, a spokesman said.
The fast-food chain famous for decades for its simple chicken-and-pickles-on-a-bun concept now cooks only antibiotic-free chicken breasts. For a limited time only, the restaurants will feature a marinated Grilled Spicy Deluxe sandwich on a multi-grain brioche bun with Colby-Jack cheese and an optional cilantro-lime sauce. An Autumn Spice Milkshake has also joined the menu.
The Silver Creek Valley opening comes with a $25,000 donation to Feeding America, the company announced.
