If you’re a bacon fiend, circle Wednesday, Oct. 26, on your calendar.
That’s when Slater’s 50/50 will make its Northern California debut at Westfield Oakridge mall in San Jose.
The Slater’s 50/50 restaurant group — named for its signature burger, a 50 percent ground bacon and 50 percent ground beef patty — will herald the 11 a.m. opening here that day with a “buy one get one free Original 50/50 Burger” promotion for the first 100 customers in line.
Founded in 2009 in Anaheim Hills by Scott Slater, a San Diego State University graduate, the company currently operates 10 restaurants — six in SoCal (with Del Amo-Torrance coming soon), two in the Las Vegas area, one in Denver and one in Honolulu. BusinessInsider.com named it the best burger in California in 2015.
Over-the-top creations dominate the menu. There’s the Sriracha Burger, a Sriracha-spiced 50/50 beef and bacon blend patty, topped with Sriracha bacon, Sriracha mushrooms, Sriracha slaw, Sriracha mayo plus pepper jack and onions on a brioche bun; the BBB Burger, with bacon American cheese, thick-cut bacon, sunny-side up egg and bacon island dressing; and the Happy Happy Birthday Shake, a funfetti shake with a Jolly Rancher crust, topped with topped with Twinkies, a cupcake, sprinkles and sparklers — just to name three.
The Oakridge restaurant, with seating for 170 customers, will feature 40 taps with craft beers, hard cider and kombucha.
