The sisters behind downtown San Jose’s popular Nirvana Soul coffeehouse now have a sister coffeehouse.
Jeronica Macey and Be’Anka Ashaolu are branching out to Cupertino with a shop on the ground floor of the Nineteen800 Apartments on Vallco Parkway.
“We’re pumped to celebrate this milestone with you!” they wrote to customers on their Facebook page. “None of this would be possible without your unwavering support.”
They’ll open this Saturday, April 30, at 9 a.m., then move to a 7 a.m. daily start.
Look for an art-filled space and their full lineup of creative lattes, including the Honey Lavender Latte, Mabuhay Ube Latte and the birthday-cake-flavored Celebration Latte, on the Cupertino menu. Other drinks include London Fog, with Earl Grey tea; Happy Soul, with herbal tea; and Turmeric Latte. On the food menu are waffles, both savory and sweet, along with pastries.
The entrepreneurial sisters brought their long-held dream to fruition during the pandemic, in September 2020, in San Jose’s SoFA district. They use house-roasted coffee beans from female and BIPOC purveyors.
Their motto has been “using the power of coffee and tea to bring people together,” and they’ve now added the cultural arts to that mix at the San Jose location. That space has been activated with open mic nights for poetry, comedy and music, continuing the legacy of the former Caffe Frascati space on South First Street. Coffeehouse concerts frequently join the schedule.
And after Cupertino?
“We’ve always known we’d be a multi-location business,” Ashaolu said. “Our goal is to have 20 shops.”
Details: After the grand opening, the hours at 19700 Vallco Parkway, Cupertino, will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 7 a.m. to noon Sunday. www.nirvanasoulcoffee.com
