San Mateo police said in a news release that officers were called Wednesday to Fiesta Gardens International School on Bermuda Drive after a parent reported “inappropriate interactions” between her child and a staff member at a Boys and Girls Club program hosted on the school grounds.

Police said an ensuing investigation identified 25-year-old Redwood City resident Kevin Granados-Elizalde, an assistant site director for the summer program, as a suspect.

Within a day, Granados-Elizalde was arrested and booked into San Mateo County jail on suspicion of crimes including lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, coercing a minor to pose for obscene material, arranging to meet a minor to commit a lewd act, possession of child pornography, and burglary.

Records show he is being held in lieu of $125,000 bail, and had an arraignment scheduled for Friday.

In a statement on the arrest, the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula referred to Granados-Elizalde as “a former employee.”

“We are both shocked and saddened by this extremely concerning information an acted immediately to terminate this individual,” the organization said. “Crimes of abuse run counter to everything our organization stands for — no harm should come to any child under any circumstance.”

The statement added: “We continue to offer our full cooperation to authorities.”

Police did not release additional details about the investigation, and asked that anyone with information for police about Granados-Elizalde or other potential victims contact Detective Dave Manion at 650-504-7568 or [email protected].
