San Ramon: 3 new, high-profile eateries at City Center Bishop Ranch

City Center Bishop Ranch, the Renzo Piano–designed shopping square in San Ramon, continues to expand as a major Tri-Valley dining destination. Opening this month and next: Three new food businesses that are firsts for Contra Costa County, including Dumpling Time, Miette Patisserie & Confiserie and a holiday pop-up of Jaynelle St. Jean’s beloved pie biz, Pietisserie.

The Berkeley-based pie maker is now taking orders at the 1,390-square-foot pop-up bakery, which is located on the upper level, around the corner from Sandbox VR. St. Jean offers 15 different pies — everything from raspberry in chocolate to black bottom walnut — and five visual styles, including pastel, weave, open, crumble and cocoa. The Omakase Restaurant Group’s popular Dumpling Time will bring its Asian dishes reimagined with California ingredients to San Ramon by the end of the month. Look for a bevy of handmade dumplings along with shrimp toast, hand-cut noodles and a cocktail program featuring sake, vodka and gin. There’ll be pops of neon and street art-inspired murals in the 3,206-square-foot street-level restaurant, which is situated along Bollinger Canyon Road near MIXT. With the Jack London Square location closed, this Miette Pâtisserie & Confiserie will be the only East Bay location of the Paris-inspired pastry shop, which started at the Berkeley Farmer’s Market in 2001. Known for its colorful displays with stunning selections of macarons and handmade cakes and cookies, the 866-square-foot Miette is slated to open before the holidays on the level level near Artisan Burgers.
