Henry Cavill joins the long list of celebrities who have had the opportunity to see The Flash, such as Tom Cruise or Stephen King, and it seems that he has been fascinated like the vast majority of those who have already been able to enjoy the long-awaited newest DC’s adventure.
Announced many years ago, the film suffered several changes and delays along the way, going through a pandemic and even the end of the Snyderverse, where it had been initially conceived, also surviving the various conflicts surrounding its main star Ezra Miller.
Days before The Flash‘s debut in theaters, Warner Bros. Discovery, the protagonists and the director are in full promotion of the film. During the press conference for Latin America, where Sasha Calle, Andy and Barbara Muschietti, and Maribel Verdú were present, the actress behind Supergirl shared some interesting details.
When asked if she had spoken to any actor or actress who had played Superman or Supergirl, Calle revealed that she had, both with Melissa Benoist and Henry Cavill. In addition, she confirmed that The Witcher star has already seen the movie and loved it (via Hablemos de Cine).
Cavill was one of the actors rumored to appear in The Flash in a brief cameo but would have been cut because the film will function as a soft reboot of the DCU canon to kick off the new universe built by James Gunn, and he’s not a part of it.
What’s The Flash Taking from Flashpoint?
The Flash is primarily based on the Flashpoint storyline, one of the most popular or perhaps the most famous arcs of the character and in DC’s mythology. In it, Barry Allen wakes up in a reality where his mother did not die, something he has always wanted to change. However, having her back did not come for free.
In this timeline, Barry never met Iris, his great love. He also has no powers, as there are no metahumans. The Justice League doesn’t even exist, although Cyborg, Batman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman are present, they are very different. In fact, the last two are mired in a war between Atlanteans and Amazons.
Cyborg, for his part, is humanity’s great hero in the absence of Superman. And Batman is way darker and violent. In fact, it is not Bruce Wayne, but Thomas, who acts like an angry vigilante after losing his son. His great enemy, as always, is the Joker, although in reality it is his own wife, Martha, who lost her mind after Bruce’s death.
Barry will have to ally with Cyborg and Thomas, and go in search of Superman, who was kidnapped by the government after being identified as an alien, in order to stop the real culprit of everything that has happened, Reverse-Flash.
In the comics, Flashpoint is a very significant event and changes the reality of several of DC’s most popular characters, something that will undoubtedly also happen after the movie and that is why it seems to have come at the right time, when a new future awaits for the DCU and its heroes.
