Reporters and graphic artists from the Southern California News Group won four awards in the National Association of Real Estate Editors journalism contest this year, the business news organization announced this month at its annual conference in Atlanta.
Housing and real estate writer Jeff Collins won first-, second- and third-place awards for stories on residential real estate.
He won a first-place award for his story, “Developers take different global warming directions” in the Best Residential Real Estate Story category. He won a second-place award for his story, “Rental Assistance Impasse Angers Tenants, Landlords” in the Best Investigative Report or Series category.
And he won a third-place award in the category for Best Collection of Work by an Individual Covering Residential Real Estate.
SCNG data reporter Nikie Johnson also won a third-place award as lead writer of “California Report Card: A Housing Hole Deepens in State” in the Best Multi-Platform Package category. Collins and graphic artists Jeffrey Goertzen and Kurt Snibbe also were recognized for their contributions to that story.
