For the cheapest – and best rated – fish suppers head to Inverness

Now, as school holidays begin and families get sets to flock to the seaside, holiday booking site SnapTrip has turned ‘ChipAdvisor’ to uncover the best value for money destinations.

The Highlands proved best in class, with R&B’s cafe in Inverness selling suppers at just £4.25 a shot.

That compares with one of the regions most expensive, at the Filling Station also in the Highlands capital where a fish tea will set you back £14 each!

For more money-saving suppers, head to Ullapool on the west coast where Deli-Ca-Sea charges just £5.95 and for next best head to the Chlachain Inn in the port town of Mallaig where it will cost you £8.50.

South of the border North Yorkshire tops the list as the holiday destination for a cheap chippy at £7, closely followed by Devon at £7.79.

The Highlands came out third in the UK with an average price of £9.78.

They also found some of the quirkier fish and chip shops in the UK, including Binley Mega Chippy.

After going viral on TikTok thanks to a song dedicated to the takeaway, the Coventry-based chip shop has been inundated with visitors. Customers can expect fish and chips for a low cost of £7.60.

“We are always looking for ways to help our customers have the best holiday, and hope that our list of the best and cheapest fish and chip shops in UK holiday destinations, along with our guide of the most interesting and quirky chip shops, does exactly that.

“Whether you’re holidaying in any of the locations on the list, or if you’re a local, you needn’t avoid a fish supper anymore!”
