EDINBURGH Airport has the worst flight delays in Scotland, an investigation has found.
Departures from Edinburgh were 24 minutes behind schedule on average in 2022, according to analysis of Civil Aviation Authority data.
The corporation ranked it the worst in Scotland for delays and seventh worst in the UK.
AGS owned airports Aberdeen and Glasgow came behind with Aberdeen experiencing delays of up to 21 minutes and Glasgow with delays lasting up to 19 minutes, placing them 10th and 15th respectively.
The worst performing in the UK was Birmingham with delays of 30 minutes.
A spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport said: “A league table ranking airports for flight delays is unhelpful as it fails to recognise one important fact – airlines operate flights, not airports.”

A spokesman for AGS Airports, which owns Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton Airports, said: “Any decision to delay a flight is made by an airline, not the airport.
It comes as Anas Sarwar hit out at the Scottish Government over “years of failure” concerning the country’s flight hubs.
The Scottish Labour leader said airports across Scotland are at “breaking point”.
He accused the SNP ministers of “choking off” the country’s potential by letting connectivity to other nations fall away.
The criticism comes after MPs on the Scottish Affairs Committee found in a report last year that passenger numbers to Scottish airports are not expected to see a return to pre-Covid levels until around 2025 or 2026.
Mr Sarwar has called for a plan to strengthen links with the US and other economic hubs across the world.
He said: “Scotland’s airports are the gateway to our economy, but years of government failure has pushed them to breaking point.
“This damaging drop in connectivity in Glasgow and across Scotland is consistent with the SNP’s record in government – one of managed decline and economic failure.”
Transport Minister Kevin Stewart said: “We are committed to working with Scotland’s airports to help restore and grow our international connectivity, while not returning to previous levels of emissions.
“Our role is complementary to that of airports who have the primary responsibility for securing new routes and working with airlines to make them sustainable.”
