SCOTS travellers have told of their fury after they were left in ‘inhumane’ conditions without food and water on board a Jet2 plane two nights in a row.

Flight LS796, bound for Manchester, was originally due to depart from Antalya, Turkey, on Friday evening.

But it was delayed due to a hydraulic fault, with families claiming they were left without food, water, or air con during the two-and-a-half hour wait.

Shane and Chelsea Grimley, from Annan, and their two kids are among ‘hundreds’ of passengers left stranded.

They say the situation was so bad that even the cabin crew were left in tears.

Shane, 35, told the Scottish Sun: “The heat was unbearable and kids were screaming and crying.

“Eventually we got off the plane and we were put up in a nice hotel. The flight was rescheduled for half past midnight yesterday.

“We got to the gate and we saw the engineers fixing the same plane that we were on before.

“Boarding opened at 1:30am and we all got on the plane, but once again it got to the runway and then stopped.”

“The captain then said this time there was an issue with the weather radar.”

Shane said chaos erupted as the passengers faced another three-and-a-half-hour delay after initially being told the issue would be fixed.

He added: “Again, there was no food or water.

“One boy became really unwell and he couldn’t even get a drink.

“You wouldn’t let your dog go without basic essentials for that long.

“It was so bad that the cabin crew were even in tears.

“The passengers were demanding to be let off the plane, I’ve never seen anything like it.

“We were transferred back to the same hotel but our room was exactly how we left it, it hadn’t been touched.”

Meanwhile, Leanne Osborne from Cumbernauld was among the other passengers caught-up in the chaos on both flights.

She claimed hundreds were still stranded in Turkey after being treated ‘worse than animals’ on board the plane.

Leanne said that at one point a child was vomiting on board the second flight, while other kids were crying.

“We didn’t arrive back to hotel until 8.20am this morning. There is no Jet2 staff present in the hotel.

The stranded passengers have now been booked on a third flight due to depart tonight at 11:40pm.

“People are anxious about getting back on same aircraft,” she added.

A Jet2 spokesperson said: “We would like to offer our sincere apologies to all customers affected by this unforeseen delay, which was caused after the flight deck crew correctly followed standard procedure after noticing a minor fault indication.

“Although we understand the enormous inconvenience that this causes, we will never compromise on putting everyone’s comfort, safety and well-being first.

“We have provided customers with hotel accommodation on both nights, and our teams are working tirelessly to look after everyone. Once again, we would like to offer our apologies to everyone affected by this delay and we are flying a replacement aircraft out to Antalya to fly customers home this evening.”
